Power Plant Operations Manager
Goals
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of a large thermal power plant. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead plant operations to achieve operational excellence across generation, transmission, and distribution. Your leadership will ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, alignment with company policies, and high team performance.
Expectations
Plant Operations Management
• Direct and oversee all aspects of power plant operations including generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Ensure the plant operates efficiently and consistently meets production, availability and quality targets.
• Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess plant performance and implement improvements.
• Develop and execute strategies to optimize plant efficiency, reliability, and availability.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
• Ensure strict compliance with all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental laws.
• Apply effective risk management practices to reduce operational risks.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
Team Leadership and Development
• Lead, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team across plant operations.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to ensure high performance.
Budgeting and Cost Management
• Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the power plant.
• Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
• Implement cost control measures while maintaining service quality and performance.
Stakeholder Management
• Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders including regulatory authorities, suppliers, and community representatives.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align plant operations with company objectives.
• Represent the plant in industry meetings, conferences, and public engagements.
Skills & Qualifications
• Master of Science or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in power plant operations that contains LM6000, LM2500 or other aeroderivative turbines.
• At least 5 years in a leadership role such as Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or Maintenance Manager in a large thermal power plant.
• Proven technical expertise in power plant systems, safety compliance, and operations.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing complex teams and systems.
